Fire & Water - Cleanup & Restoration

Call SERVPRO of St. Clair Shores to Help Restore Your Home from Fire Damage

After a small fire, smoke damage may seem minimal, but unseen areas may need restoration.

SERVPRO® of St. Clair Shores is trained to inspect and restore all areas that may have been damaged. We are Here to Help. Call us at 586-741-5050.

SERVPRO of St. Clair Shores is a Leader in Structural Remediation & Restoration

The initial damage from fires is only the start of the problem. Smoke, soot, water, and chemicals from fire-extinguishers can continue to cause damage long after the fire itself is over. We suggest homeowners call us as soon as possible after a fire to ensure there is no further damage, but even a later inspection will let us find whether there are areas that require remediation before the damage gets worse.

Read more about our restoration and services in and around East Pointe on our website; we are proud of the work we have done on local homes, businesses, community buildings, and on the belongings as well.

Be Alert: Prevention is the Best Way to Fight Fires

As the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has noted, fire is fast. It moves much more quickly than most of us expect, which is why it is best to prevent fires than to be ready to fight them.

If a fire does start in your home or business, use a fire extinguisher only if:

  1. The fire department is on its way
  2. Everyone else is out of the building
  3. The fire is small, not growing, and contained in a metal wastebasket or something similar

Common Causes of Fires in Macomb County

SERVPRO of St. Clair County is ready to remediate damage and restore structures and contents, but we hope nothing happens, either during this holiday season or later.

Be careful:

  • Frayed wires
  • Overloaded extension cords
  • Modern extension cords shut off when try to overload them; that’s a safety feature, not a bug
  • In homes: don’t put clothing, paper, decorations, or anything flammable on space heaters or near candles or Christmas lights
  • Turn off the holiday lights when you go to bed, leave the room, or leave the house (you’ll be grateful when the electric bill comes)
  • Extinguish candles and fires when you go to bed or leave the house

Trivia Time: Hidden Smoke Damage ? Other Kinds of Hiding

Protective coloration

Some animals hide by blending into their surroundings. We looked at what photojournalists claimed to pictures of owls in trees and are not convinced that there were any owls. We may have been trolled.

We did eventually find one gecko and one snow leopard in their respective environments but no such luck with several other animals.

Hang with the group

One zebra is an easy-to-see, boldly striped quadruped, but a bunch of zebras in a herd is big, bold striped mess.

Mimesis (masquerade)

Prey animals looks like predators or like something non-edible. Some grasshoppers look like sticks, for example, and there are cuckoos that resemble sparrowhawks.
