Fire & Water - Cleanup & Restoration

Call SERVPRO of St. Clair Shores to Help Restore Your Home or Business After a Fire.

All it takes is a spark to start a fire. Our trained teams at SERVPRO® of St. Clair Shores are prepared to remediate all types of fire damage.

SERVPRO of St. Clair Shores is Here to Help®

Fire moves quickly. Don’t believe the movies; you and your dog can’t outrun the fireball to save the space station from the evil emperor’s army, so at the first hint of fire, get out of the pod – building – and out to safety.

If the fire is, as is more likely, here in Roseville or St. Clair Shores instead of a space station, the same reasoning applies, at the first sign of a fire (such as a smoke detector or fire alarm), get out of the building.

Check that you and everyone else are okay, then call SERVPRO of St. Clair Shores at 586-741-5050.

Don’t worry about the time or the day. Emergency services are always available. When disasters start taking off weekends, holidays, and late or early hours, we’ll start taking off weekends, holidays, and late or early hours. Until then, call any time on any day.

Fires are upsetting experiences and you’ll be stressed and nervous. Don’t be upset when we ask several questions. These questions aren’t meant to delay help; they are designed to make the help more efficient. We need to know:

  • Length of time since fire was extinguished
  • Types of materials burned
  • Whether firefighters used water and/or other extinguishers
  • Insurance information

There may be other questions to help us assemble the best teams and equipment to remediate the damage, help restore the building and its belongings to preloss conditions, and (likely) work directly with your insurance company.

Remediation and Restoration are Not Do-It-Yourself Jobs

We love watching the DIY videos as much as the next person, perhaps more so because of the entertainment value, but they are not realistic. The lack of realism is what makes them so delightful.

We watch these videos at home, then go to bed believing we can build Formula One Racing Cars out of junk-yard rejects, hand-me-down tools, and a spool of thread. Fun? Yes. Realistic? No.

Some of what you’ll need to remediate damage after a fire:

  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) because
    • Smoke, soot, and microbial growth are hazardous for inhalation and skin contact
    • Cleansers and disinfectants may also be hazardous
  • Specialty cleansers and disinfectants
  • Equipment to remove thousands of gallons of water (if needed)
  • Ozoning equipment
  • If you are a business, licenses from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
  • Professional certification if you hope for insurance to pay
  • May need storage space

Trivia Break!

The Department of Nearly Useless Information decided to provide a list of unusual town names in the United States. They must’ve been hungry:

  • Goodfood, MS
  • Ham Lake, MN
  • Hot Coffee, MS
  • Coffeyville, KS
  • Lick Fork, VA
  • Oatmeal, TX
