If the Cooking Escapes from Kitchen, SERVPRO of St. Clair Shores Will Corral the Damage.
According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) the number one cause of home fires is unattended cooking. If your home experiences fire damage, our SERVPRO® of St. Clair Shores professionals are Here to Help® with the restoration.
SERVPRO of St. Clair Shores
There are so many competing demands on our attention, and cooking isn’t always the most interesting – or at least not the loudest. If you are broiling, boiling, or frying food, you need to be paying close attention; that might mean you have to put off the task until someone else can watch the herd of children or take care of one of the 459 other jobs.
Whatever the cause of a fire, even a small one can leave behind a lot of damage. Kitchen fires are often easy to extinguish; if they start on the burner, you can use a fire extinguisher or a skillet lid to put out the fire. The damages from these fires are, alas, stealtheir than the villains in a movie series.
More on that later.
If a fire – not from a scotch bonnet pepper– scorches your kitchen or beyond in Roseville, give us a call at SERVPRO of St. Clair Shores. Smoke and water both keep causing damage until they are professionally removed, so don’t wait. Don’t worry; we’re available at all hours on all days. Call us at (586)-741-5050.
Kitchen Fires: Obvious and Stealthy
Kitchen fires and their consequences make the perfect team of movie-series villains. They are obvious, obnoxious, stealthy, and hard to remove.
Fortunately, SERVPRO of St. Clair Shores has had the necessary superhero training and the requisite quartermaster to issue cool equipment; we’re able to handle the damage.
The fire is over quickly. The damage, however, is not.
- Smoke from different sources shows up at different times
- Smoke from protein requires special cleaners, or it keeps coming back
- Different types of smoke require different cleaners and techniques plus
- Different materials (cotton, vinyl, steel)) require different cleaners and techniques plus
- The combination of materials and smoke can be tricky as well
- Smoke travels through air ducts even when the HVAC is not in use
- Smoke is attracted to certain spots in the house, including from warm to cool, low to high, certain metals
- Water (from fire suppression) is absorbed by drywall, subflooring, and carpet
- The water can attract microbial growth (such as mold) that must be professionally remediated
Now you understand why we keep up our certifications through online training and other continuing education.
