Does Your Homeowner’s Insurance Cover Your Sump Pump?

Check Your Insurance Policy
A standard homeowners insurance policy does not cover water damage caused by a sump pump failure, but it can be added to your policy in an endorsement.
With an average homeowner’s policy, the sump pump backup endorsement can be added at a low cost.
This will cover water-damaged items and also the cost of the cleanup.
A sump pump could fail any time without any warning. During the winter season large amounts of snow can pile up. When the temperatures warm up and the snow melts, flooding can occur. A working sump pump is extremely important to keep your basement from flooding.
A back-up sump pump is a very good precaution. If your sump pump fails, the back-up will kick in and save the day.
