I knew by the tell-tale signs of damp, yellow, smelly water stains on my wall that there was a water leak somewhere. Yikes! The plumber came out and tore into the wall and fixed the problem, but now I had a gaping hole in the living room wall and soggy drywall and insulation to contend with. When they arrived, they removed the damaged drywall and water-logged wall insulation and set up high-speed air movers and dehumidifiers to remove the remaining moisture from the damaged area. Once everything was completely dry, they used air scrubbers and deodorizing agents to remove the musty water odor and any airborne contaminants that could encourage mold growth. They replaced the insulation and repaired and painted the wall. The job was completed quickly, and you would never know that a few days before my wall had been torn open!
